MID-BACK PAIN AND TIGHTNESS

Care for tight, stiff upper backs and pain between the shoulder blades, in Carefree on the Cave Creek border. In most cases we can see you the same day.

WHAT CAUSES MID-BACK PAIN?

The middle of the back, between the shoulder blades, often tightens up from slouching at a desk, carrying a bag on one shoulder, or the turning and reaching of golf and pickleball. Holding one position for a long time, like long hours at a screen, is a common trigger.

Pain between the shoulder blades can come from muscles and joints, but it can also have other causes. That is why we always examine you first, and refer you to a medical doctor when needed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is pain between my shoulder blades serious?
It can come from tight muscles and stiff joints, but it can also have other causes, so it is worth getting checked. We examine you first and refer you to a medical doctor if anything suggests you need one.
Why does my upper back hurt after a day at my desk?
Holding one position for a long time puts steady strain on the upper back and neck. Sitting upright with your shoulders relaxed back, and changing position often, helps.
Should I use ice or heat?
Ice works best for new or acute injuries. Heat helps with subacute and chronic conditions.
What can I do at home?
Keep moving, take short breaks from sitting, and try gentle stretches. We will show you movements that are safe for you.
Can I be seen the same day?
In most cases, yes. Call 480-488-1282, or request an appointment online and we will call you back.
