ARTHRITIS AND JOINT STIFFNESS

Gentle, hands-on care for stiff, achy joints, in Carefree on the Cave Creek border. In most cases we can see you the same day.

WHAT IS ARTHRITIS?

Arthritis causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints. The most common type is osteoarthritis, which happens when the tissues in a joint break down over time. It often affects the knees, hips, hands, neck and lower back, and it becomes more common as we get older. Joints may feel stiff first thing in the morning or after sitting, usually for less than 30 minutes, and ache more after a lot of use. Rheumatoid arthritis is a different condition that usually starts in the small joints of the hands and feet, and it is treated by your medical doctor.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Should I stay active if I have arthritis?
Yes. Regular exercise can lower joint pain and stiffness and build flexibility and strength. Low-impact activities like walking, swimming and yoga are good places to start, and we will help you choose what fits.
What can I do at home?
Hot or cold packs can ease sore joints. Shoes with shock-absorbing soles take some pressure off your hips, knees and feet when you walk, and keeping a healthy weight lowers the strain on your joints.
Can you help if I have rheumatoid arthritis?
Rheumatoid arthritis is treated by your medical doctor. Alongside that care, we can help with related muscle tension and stiffness using gentle techniques.
Is arthritis care covered by insurance?
We accept most insurance for chiropractic care, including Medicare for spinal adjustments. Call us and we will check your plan.
Can I be seen the same day?
In most cases, yes. Call 480-488-1282, or request an appointment online and we will call you back.
