TENNIS ELBOW AND GOLFER'S ELBOW

Care for sore forearm tendons from golf, pickleball, tennis and everyday gripping, in Carefree on the Cave Creek border. In most cases we can see you the same day.

WHAT ARE TENNIS ELBOW AND GOLFER'S ELBOW?

Both are overuse problems in the forearm tendons where they attach at the elbow. Tennis elbow causes pain and burning on the outside of the elbow, and gripping, lifting, turning the wrist or shaking hands can make it worse. Golfer's elbow affects the tendons on the inner side of the elbow. Both are common in racquet and paddle sports, golf, and jobs that use the hands and forearms all day, like painting, carpentry and cooking.

The pain usually starts mildly and builds over weeks to months. Most people get better without surgery.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does tennis or golfer's elbow last?
It often improves over a few weeks, but it can sometimes last more than a year if the condition becomes chronic. Most people get better without surgery.
Should I wear a brace?
A forearm strap or brace can help rest the tendons. We can show you how to wear one.
Can I keep playing?
Cut back on the movements that hurt, like hard gripping and repeated wrist turning, while the tendon settles. We will help you build back up.
Is shockwave therapy covered by insurance?
No. Shockwave therapy is a self-pay service. Call us and we will explain the options.
Can I be seen the same day?
In most cases, yes. Call 480-488-1282, or request an appointment online and we will call you back.
